Leadership Training program

The following is the schedule for the planned Leadership training and Confidence Building program for students of nearby schools

August 28 - Charity Onasadya

hey,
This is to inform you all that Yi(TIST) Net is planning to hold a charity based program during the coming Onam Festival(basically before we all go for our hols)


We are planning to provide lunch ( Onasadya) either to orphanage kids or people at oldage homes. So, everyone has to put in their contribution. Make to the maximum you can.. we will go to the place and also will spend some time with them.. It is planned for august 28 '09...

If u Guys have some suggestion pls put them up too...

Yi(TIST) NET innauguration - 3RD JULY 2009

The innauguration of Yi(TIST) NET took place on 3rd of july 2009. The function was attended by delegates from Yi- Mr Jacob Joy, Yi cochin chapter chair, M/s Namrata Khona Samra, Yi Kochi Chapter Youth Affairs Chair and Mr Abin Simon, Yi TIST Net Guide. Prof P.J.Joseph, President TIST and Dr Alex Mathew , Director TIST were also present apart from the hods, deans and students from various departments.

The program started at 10:30 am with the welcome speech by Nischai.V, Chair Yi NET TIST. Prof P.J.Joseph addressed the gathering saying that the youth have an important role to play in the nation's development and Yi will play a huge role in making the students committed towards this.

The Principal in his message said that the similarity between people and industries is selfishness. We have limited resources and thus we should be professionally responsible. He expressed his happiness in Yi starting up a studentchapter in the college.

M/s Namrata Khona talked abot the nine virtues the youth should possess namely ethics, wellpower, integrity, responsibility, respect for the law, love towards his work, nature of saving and investing and punctuality. Later she also gave away Yi shirts to council members.

The students also responded well and actively took part in the program.

The program concluded by 1:00pm with the national anthem.

Young Indians(Yi) - What is it? An Intro

Young Indians (Yi) is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), India’s premier business association, formed in the year 2002, with an objective of creating a platform for young Indians to realize the dream of a developed nation. Yi has over 826 direct members in 16 City Chapters & 135 members in 2 corporate chapters. Yi engages another 10,000 members through its District Chapters, Farmer Nets and Student Nets. The Yi membership includes young progressive Indians between the age group of 25 & 40 years. The members comprise of entrepreneurs, professionals and progressive achievers from different walks of life. “To become the voice of young Indians globally” being the vision of Yi, it provides a platform for young Indians to participate in and contribute to being and integral part of the Indian Growth Story.
Yi works effectively for promoting leadership skills for the development of its members through the learning programs; the development and engagement of students in schools and colleges through its 47 Students’ Net platform which engage more than 2900 students from various educational institutions across India; and a Farmers Net platform that has enrolled 5903 young & progressive farmers from all across the country, providing them with real time agricultural inputs and know-how.
Yi has successfully conducted campaigns and developed successful projects across the focus areas of primary education, environment, primary healthcare and employability, contributing positively to its surrounding eco system and the Nation. Through its initiatives like Akshara, Yi has impacted 15000 students across 50 centers, skilled & placed 713 youth under the aegis of its Yi labs employability program. Under the healthcare initiative, over two lakh children have been dewormed in addition to many health awareness programs across the community in different cities. Within the sphere of environment, Yi conducts a Green I contest, campaigns for tree plantation, solid waste management projects, involving citizens and school children in the process.
To promote a country of responsible citizens, Yi has organized “Integrity India Campaigns” to work with the youth on creating a national level awareness, debate and dialogue on the issues of transparency, accountability and ethical behavior. Yi has so far spread this message to more than 10,000 youth across the country.
Yi organises an annual national summit with themes relevant to India and its youth. The national summits include sessions and interactions with some of the finest and eminent personalities from various fields, across India and the world. 5 editions of the Summit have been organised to date.
Yi works in partnership with various organisations. These include the Government, Companies, Civil society organizations. On the international arena, Yi engages with the BMW Foundation to promote the “Indo German Young Leaders Forum” for young thought leaders from Germany and India to come on a common platform to discuss issues and find solutions for enhanced relationships. Yi also works with the Aspen India Institute to conduct leadership development programs
In 2008, Young Indians partnered with CII on the Mission on India@75: The Emerging Agenda, which reflects its aspirational role to facilitate the acceleration in India’s transformation into an economically vital, technologically innovative, socially and ethically vibrant global leader by year 2022. The Yi organisation and activities are today aligned to work towards the goals set in the vision of India@75.
With six years of glorious past and decades ahead that promise nothing short, Yi intends to become a larger movement and promote the positive attitude of “We Can, We Will”.
